Immutability

The attribute of a thing that indicates constancy and unchangeableness.

Immutability refers to the characteristic of a concrete or abstract thing to remain unchangeable in the face of specific transformations and conditions. Most of the time, the term is used to describe an object or concept’s likelihood to remain the same after creation, lending it the quality of stability and credibility as a result. In crypto space, this term is often used as the fundamental attribute of transactions, suggesting that the blockchain system can be trusted since executed transactions are virtually impossible to modify.

Immutability is one of the distinguishing characteristics of a reliable blockchain network. It is because of this characteristic that committed and expert crypto traders are assured against the prevalence of double spending on their networks.
