Initial Coin Offering (ICO)

A popular strategy for funding crypto projects through the supply of cryptocurrencies as investment options.

An Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is a smart fund-raising strategy where the development team of a crypto project offers up investment or shareholder spots in the form of obtainable cryptocurrencies. The events that characterize this strategy are usually innovative and exciting, effectively inviting and engaging potential investors, and securing enough funds to begin the initial phase of the crypto project.

ICOs are very common now but shareholder investments are no longer popular. Instead, the tokens purchased during ICOs are simple investments, with returns only expected on each investment unit rather than these units representing ownership of the crypto project or company.
